Raised on a farm in Brodbecks, Pennsylvania, Charlotte Yealey grew up appreciating the natural life which always included animals. Early in her life, she knew she wanted to capture those faces in her art. She began painting and drawing animals as soon as she could hold a pencil. After graduating from high school, Charlotte attended York Academy of Arts and worked with several accomplished artists including Tom Lynch and Claudia Nice.
Early in her career, Charlotte was a professional pet groomer. She owned her own grooming business, supporting herself and two daughters following her divorce. While working full time and raising her family, Charlotte still followed her passion, continuing to paint portraits, especially cats and dogs. Two decades later, one of Charlotte's daughters has now taken over the grooming while Charlotte devotes her time to painting and visiting nursing homes with her four rescued Therapy dogs in Hanover, PA. Charlotte's work is now in private collections all over the world. Her art has been accepted in many juried shows and won several awards. Her work has even been presented as prizes at local dog shows. A resident of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Charlotte currently shows her artwork at the Hanover Area Arts Guild Gallery, York Art Association, Art & Soul Gallery in Leymone and Gallery 13 in Mechanicsburg, PA. She is also a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and Daily Painters of PA. Charlotte works in many different mediums and enjoys experimenting. She also teaches colored pencil classes at the Hanover Area Arts Guild and children's class in her studio, sharing her knowledge with budding artists.
